Prototyping & design
We’ll find a design solution for your website that’s right for your customers and great for your business.
Information architecture
Information architecture is a match-making process. It’s all about structuring, organizing and labeling your site’s content so that it allows your users to find, access and understand it with the minimum of fuss. We’ll work with you to produce blueprints for your site. These will include great-looking site maps, flow charts and wireframes that will accurately specify the structures and interactions within your website. Furthermore, they’ll be tailored so that they communicate effectively for their intended audience, whether it be developers, users or stakeholders.
We also carry out user research that will support the development of an information architecture, such as card sorting and user testing.
Rapid prototyping
Although it’s often appropriate to produce formal information architecture documentation (in the form of site maps, flowchart and wireframes), we generally prefer to take a more informal, rapid prototyping approach to site design. This approach involves producing interactive HTML prototypes that can be shared with clients and tested with users. The benefits of this approach are:
- It’s more engaging. It’s much easier to engage clients and stakeholders with an interactive mockup rather than formal documentation
- It embraces change. It’s less formal, and iterative change is encouraged (unlike formal documentation, where a deliverable often feels final)
- More time is spent designing. Documentation is kept to a minimum, so more time is spent designing and less time is spent on preparing deliverables
